Testing & Treatment

Begin Treatment Today

Our goal at Advocare Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists is to keep our focus on your overall lung and sleep health. We can provide you with the following services at our office:

  • Services Offered

    Abnormal Chest X-ray Evaluation

We review the images and radiologist's report and discuss your X-ray results with you.

    Asthma Management

Asthma medicines come in two types—quick relief and long-term control.

    COPD Management

Each person's COPD is different and so is each management plan.

    Oxygen and Nebulizer Therapy

A nebulizer is used to deliver medication in the form of a mist directly to the lungs, while an oxygen concentrator is used to deliver medical oxygen to the lungs, which is pulled from the surrounding air.

    PAP Mask Fittings

We'll help you choose the best-fitting mask that works best for you.

    Pulmonary Disease Management

To diagnose your condition, our doctors will review your signs and symptoms, discuss your family and medical history, and discuss any exposure you've had to lung irritants.

    Pulmonary Rehabilitation

A program of education and exercise to increase awareness about your lungs and your disease.

    Sleep Apnea Treatment

Certain devices can help open up a blocked airway. In other cases, surgery might be necessary.

    Sleep Study Interpretation

You should review your results with your physician and discuss your diagnosis, next steps, and treatment options.

    Smoking Cessation

Smoking cessation lowers the risk of cancer and other serious health problems.

  • Sleep Based Procedures

Please note: We do not offer on-site Sleep Studies in our offices. We evaluate each patient prior to sending them to a third-party facility (or Sleep Center) depending on insurance. There are different types of studies that are offered such as; At-Home or Titration (In-Lab) Studies. Once studies are completed, our office will call you with the results of the diagnosis and treatment options.

    At-Home Sleep Test

A home sleep apnea test is a very simplified breathing monitor that tracks your breathing, oxygen levels, and breathing effort while worn.

    Titration (In-Lab) Sleep Test

Polysomnography (Sleep Study) records your brain waves, the oxygen level in your blood, heart rate and breathing, as well as eye and leg movements during the study.

  • Office Based Procedures

    Exhaled Nitric Oxide Test

An exhaled nitric oxide level test can help diagnose and manage asthma.

    Flu and Pneumonia Vaccinations

You can administer a pneumococcal vaccine (PCV15, PCV20, or PPSV23) during the same visit with influenza vaccination.

    Methacholine Challenge Test

The methacholine challenge test (also known as the bronchoprovocation test) is performed to evaluate how "reactive" or "responsive" your lungs are.

    Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT)

Noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange.

    Pulse Oximetry Test

A test used to measure the oxygen level (oxygen saturation) of the blood. It is an easy, painless measure of how well oxygen is being sent to parts of your body furthest from your heart, such as the arms and legs.

    Six-Minute Walk Test

A measure of functional status or fitness. It is used as a simple measure of aerobic exercise capacity.

    Spirometry Test

This test measures how much air you can breathe in and out of your lungs, as well as how easily and fast you can blow the air out of your lungs.

  • Hospital Based Procedures

    Abnormal CT Scan Observation

A radiologist usually interprets these images and sends a report to your doctor.

    Bronchoscopy

An endoscopic technique of visualizing the inside of the airways for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. An instrument is inserted into the airways, usually through the nose or mouth, or occasionally through a tracheostomy.

    Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test

Also referred to as a VO2 (oxygen consumption) test, is a specialized type of stress test or exercise test that measures your exercise ability.

    Chest X-rays

Images of your heart, lungs, blood vessels, airways, and the bones of your chest and spine. Chest X-rays can also reveal fluid in or around your lungs or air surrounding a lung.

    CT Guided Needle Biopsy

A biopsy procedure that uses a CT scan (a special type of x-ray linked to a computer) to find an abnormal area in the body and help guide the removal of a sample of tissue from that area.

    Endobronchial Ultrasound Guided Biopsy (EBUS)

A procedure used to diagnose different types of lung disorders, including inflammation, infections, or cancer.

    Navigational Bronchoscopy

During a bronchoscopy, a doctor passes a bronchoscope, a thin, flexible tube mounted with a small light and camera, through the nose or mouth of the patient and into the airways of the lungs.

    Thoracentesis

A procedure to remove fluid or air from around the lungs.
